Low-cost housing
Addressing the affordability gap.
The Gauteng East Traditional Council (GETC) Housing Development Initiative is a community-focused housing programme designed to address the growing shortage of safe, decent and affordable housing for families and individuals who are unable to access conventional housing finance.
The initiative seeks to provide quality, affordable homes to qualifying South African families, particularly low-income households, vulnerable families, young families, pensioners, persons living in inadequate housing and members of communities experiencing severe housing shortages.
The programme is based on the principle that every family deserves a safe and dignified place to call home. The programme will initially provide three housing categories: 1 Bedroom House at R500 for a period of 12 months, amounting to R6,000 2 Bedroom House at R1,000 for a period of 12 months amounting to R12,000 3 Bedroom House at R1,500 for a period of 12 months amounting to R18,000. The monthly contribution is intended to provide an affordable entry point for qualifying beneficiaries.
